Freelance full-stack developer - Long-term retainer
CeSIA is looking for a freelance full-stack developer to look after the websites we use to reach policymakers, researchers and the public.
Engagement type: Retainer, a few days a month, on a flexible basis.
What you'll do
Maintain and improve our Wagtail site and, secondarily, a Laravel site (two pages for now): bug fixes, small features, content model changes.
Manage multilingual content and fix translation issues with wagtail-localize.
Debug backend issues and write safe, reversible PostgreSQL migrations.
Work on the front end with Django templates and Tailwind CSS.
Maintain our admin dashboard, built with Laravel Nova. Deploy via Docker and Git/GitHub.
Look after site health: redirects, broken links, SEO tooling and accessibility fixes.
Check and set up DNS and email deliverability where needed.
What we're looking for
Must-have
Solid, demonstrable experience building and maintaining production websites end to end: back end, front end and deployment.
Very comfortable with Django and Python more broadly.
You communicate clearly, follow through and own your work.
Comfortable reading and writing technical English.
Seamless time zone compatibility with Paris, France.
Nice-to-have
PHP, Laravel and Laravel Nova, which runs our admin dashboard.
Wagtail and wagtail-localize, ideally on a multilingual site.
PostgreSQL, Tailwind CSS, Docker and GitHub. SEO and web accessibility basics.
An eye for design. We'd like someone who suggests front-end and visual improvements on their own.
